I don't believe this is the 3rd MC offering. I passed on the set myself. Didn't appeal to me at all.

I don't think a 50.00 coin would impress most mc members. These are just another round of their endless releases but at least a lower mintage.

Some people on the other forum said it was a 3rd MC offering. I guess they are wrong. BTW, I never received the email from the RCM.

I received the email from my rep. But I saw it on the website when I signed it the day before. I don't 100% count on my rep. for everything...... He doesn't tell me about promotions that come up ( I think a lot of times they aren't aware). I almost wonder if they are overloaded with clients and can't keep up.

If anyone was sitting on the fence about those SwarovskiŽ Crystal - Birthstones, at 8:39pm, only 7 singles left and 71 subscriptions. Could be a sell out before released to public?
This lower mintage number is better then most other silver coin subscriptions, and I have no doubt it will sell out. It may not be much silver in each coin, but when you consider the low price, this might be what the mint wants to push to all those people who are buying the 20 for 20 and 25 for 25.
Too bad there isn't one large case to keep all 12.

This new Birthstones series is NOT, I repeat, it NOT an MC exclusive. Other dealers will carry it. Besides the email from my Rep, this series is also being advertised in cdncoin's coming catalogue.

I'm having trouble figuring out why they are mixing the 2012 Chinese year of the Dragon with the western monthly birthstones But maybe I'm missing something :-(

with Falcon about Dragon. Being year-of-Dragon born, and keeping RCM 2012 Dragon coins, will not consider these. Yes, the singles may sell out from RCM, but this heppens almost with all subscription, and all the subscriptions available later for 50% - 70% of issue. Quote: Too bad there isn't one large case to keep all 12. 2013 O Canada Wooden box for 12 1/2oz coins will fit perfectly with little modification. We have pictures somewhere in the forum.

Another lame attempt at enticing the Asian markets, it's a cheap looking coin.

Agreed. They are trying to appeal to Asian collectors. Anyway, just more garbage from the Mint. They might not even finish the series (also something they tend to do). I'll buy mine from Colonial Acres when they offload them for $19.99 in a few months :P

Quote: Lostwords, why did you call this coin as January release? Except the name it has nothing to do with January. It will available to public next week. Also, you didn't mention here the final coin in the Canadian Home Front series: Patrol Against U-boats, nor the Looney Tunes' "That's All Folks!". So I would call it December mini release. So rename this topic to something else to make this name available for the real January release. Too late, can't change topic now.

I am a gem facetor. The birthstone for January on this coin does not make any sense to me at all! The birthstone for January is supposed to be Garnet NOT Swarovski crystal. Garnet is a much tougher stone and far less sensitive chipping at the intersection of the facets, than Swarovski crystal. Garnet and comes in an array of colors from the tawny red of Pyrope garnet to the rich green of the Tsarovite garnet, and so red is NOT necessarily the right colour.

Thanks, Sel, for interesting info. Like people mentioned, RCM tries to push "some stuff" to people. So they used Swarowsky to reflect the colors. They suspect that majority of coin collectors or people who will buy this, have no knowledge in the stones.
