I think they are using the crystal to match the colour, had they used real actual stones, then for April they need diamond, which is quite expensive and would not be affordable.

There are really cheap quality diamonds the RCM can use.

Check out the Talisman for nice tribute for Australia 1c and 2c set (2*1oz coins set)
Mintage = 2000
Nice coins due to being limited and over-sized. But I have original sized coins set and more important - Australian (and not Niue denominations).

I see they have increased the mintage to 20,000 on the Welcome to the World 2016 1/2 ounce silver coin. It was 10,000 in 2011-2012 and 15,000 2013-2015. If it sells out regularly, they increase the mintage.
Incused reverse design to mimic the traditional cast of baby's feet, same as in 2015.

Quote: If it sells out regularly, they increase the mintage. Gifting this coin is better, rather than the decorative small silver spoon....so it's ok, this item shouldn't be limited. Like a lucky dollar or three pence or similar coin. Is there unusual package on the picture?

I've seen the Medalion #2 by RCM for NASCAR - listed by Talisman. Imo, the design and price more appealing than the first one. Struck by RCM1/2 oz .9999 Silver Packaged similar to 50for50 coins (same dimensions and finish) Unlike the first one (NASCAR), the second have no colorization and depicts a full picture of track with the racers (#1 was more symbolic with the car and the wheel). Also, the #2 dedicated to "Daytona International Motor Speedway" (Daytona 500) This make it appeal to the fans of the "Motor Speedway of the South", incredible "Dinoco 400" event of the "Piston Cup" tournament series. ...looks like will get it.

I think your right about the package Silveroid, on the new Welcome Coin. Looks like a jewellers' box with top and bottom, for the outside box containing the clamshell. Nice presentation for a gift. I agree with this coin being in a different category as far as mintage is concerned. It may make the 2011 and 2012 mintage look smaller still.

Are people collecting the welcome to the world as a series. It just occurred to me that some collectors might be making a set out of these. They do make a tasteful baby gift, that is also unique. Much better than the $19.95 set. Its too bad they axed the fifty cent coin. I wish the mint would bring back the penny for collector sets. I miss the penny design.

Quote: Are people collecting the welcome to the world as a series SilverDon has them all (except the 2016) Yes, it really could be nice if Penny and 50 cents will be part of the Gift / Uncirculated .....but the Penny is decommissioned and haven't been minted (atleast this is what they tell us...who knows, which coins minted for especial VIP collectors)

Silver Don it would be great to see all the welcome to the world coins side by side. It never occurred to me to make a small set of them. Members really do have innovative ways of collecting. I bet it makes a stunning display.

Quote: SilverDon has them all (except the 2016) Thanks Silveroid. Yes, Pocketchange 50, not sure why, but they have great sell out capacity. The 2011 and 2012 were hard to find. Quote: I bet it makes a stunning display. Not the best of backgrounds but here are all the coins together. One at a time. Hope you like them PC50.

The 2012 is my favorite, I am drooling over it. The do make a splendid display. They are a coin I never even glanced at. I had no reason to. Looks like the mint will keep it as a yearly offering. Imagine filling an O Canada box with them. Its nice that the design does change. A half oz of silver is a nice gift. Thanks Silver Don for the photos! Seldom are photos posted now. Numoosematist was great at starting photo threads, too bad hes no on anymore!
