Hello,
I came across this large cent and don't know much about these old copper coins. Can you please give me your opinions on grade and is that corrosion or just dirt. Should I do anything about it or just leave it alone.
Thanks
dcas55

the coin has serious environmental damage to it that is beyond restoration measures. probably has vf details but in this condition is not worth much. $5 maybe?

There's probably some dirt too but removing it won't improve the value of the coin.

Probably a ground recovery (dug) coin -- nothing you can do to save her, but any Large Cent is always worth keeping around :)

What sort of an effect, if any, would xylene (xylol) have upon this coin?

Would it even be worth a try or would it worsen the situation?

Very little effect if any. Not worth it.
