1855 "knob On Ear" Large Cent. What Die Stage?

RedRaider Pillar of the Community United States 1021 Posts	Posted 11/28/2015 11:22 am Picked this up in a coin shop this week. I needed this variety for my large cent dansco, and this seemed like a great deal at $40. I understand there are a number of die stages that might be collectible. This seems to have a much larger "knob" than others I have seen. There is even part of the knob extending between the R and T in LIBERTY. Any idea as to what die stage this would fall under? Thanks! cipster Pillar of the Community United States 2362 Posts	Posted 11/28/2015 1:30 pm Oh yes, Liberty is wearing a wireless bluetooth on her ear I use Bob Grellman's book and he lists this as the latest die state. "Section between knobs under T and Y fills in as shown in diagram. Extremely rare". Here's mine - looks to be about the same die state as yours. The last die state is when the section between the knobs under "T" and "Y" fills in and is one complete blob and is not somewhat separated as yours is. Report this Post to the Staff
