I am considering storage options for my coins and have come to the realization that by switching from 2x2s to 1.5x1.5 cardboard mylar flips, I can store 50% more coins per sheet with smaller holders (30 slots per binder sheet for 1.5x1.5 inch flips compared to 20 slots for the 2x2s). Also I think the collection probably would look neater with more coins per page and less cardboard.

Of course, this would only work for quarters and smaller coins, but this is still a significant portion of my collection. For consistency's sake, I would want to transfer all coins in 2x2s to 1.5x1.5s which would be quite a large undertaking.

Has anyone here used 1.5x1.5s here or made a similar transition? Any better recommendations for storage efficiency while maintaining the protective capacity of a cardboard-mylar 2x2?

Thank you

The major coin store/chain in my area (DSS Coin and Bullion) uses 1.5/1.5 for their cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters. I always use 2x2's.

I have bought plenty of coins in 1.5x1.5 holders, but have never used them. The big reason being that there is no appropriate page for the Dansco (its smaller 2x2 page has twelve pockets instead of the usual 20).

I will say that the 1.5x1.5 pages that I see at the shows do look impressive with more coins per page.

I like the 1.5 x 1.5 holders. I think they look great having more coins per page. But I don't use them. First there isn't much room to write on them. Secondly that means I would have to buy different coin pages.

I too like the smaller sized flips except I never use them for the same reason many others don't. No room to write stuff.
Rest in Peace

I use 1.5x1.5 for my Nickels and Dimes only . All others are in 2x2's . Finding room to write on 1.5's are not an issue for me .

I recently swapped my 2x2 penny flips to 1.5x1.5 flips. I like the ability to use 30-count sheets in my albums instead of the usual 20-count sheets. It cuts down on the thickness of my binders.

I also plan on doing the same for my dime collections; not sure of nickels or quarters though.

The only deterrence I have is the loss of printing room; both in width AND height. I used to use two horizontal rows of prints on my 2x2's, but really can only fit one row on top and bottom with the 1.5's.

I have and use both, 2x2's are my preference. More space to write on them and fit in 2x2 boxes better.

I store my non-TPG coins in 2x2s to standardize. Besides, it's too hard to fit a Morgan into a 1.5 x 1.5

I have both sizes for my pennies and they work fine. I started on a budget so the 1.5x1.5 were a better deal. I don't like all the cardboard showing on my pages. More copper per page looks better to me.

Mixing the sizes can lead to a dreaded staple mark on an adjacent coin (when stored in boxes).
