Are those genuine NGC slabs?

IMO, overpriced despite "low mintage," the queen's obligatory portrait on the obv ruins what might have been a nice PPIE anniversary souvenir. I've yet to figure out what Niue/NZ mint has in connection with the original event except to profit off of collectors?

Looks like something dan carr would do. He just did something unique but similar in large 2.5oz gold

I am usually a fan of British coinage with the Queen's portrait but this is a huge disappointment for me

Pretty typical of Niue to make a "cool" coin that will be worthless in a few years.

Amazing that the original packaging is designed to accommodate a slab... could it be that not a single one of these coins has escaped authentication? The implications are mind-boggling.

It may sell like hotcakes today but in 10 years it will be another of the growing number of bullion items selling for scrap.
There are simply too many of these things for them to ever be of any real value.

Amen to that @swamperbob. And if there's no bullion, the only limit to the bottom is zero. Been there, done that selling modern US proofs from the 1990's. Foreign proofs in the scrap buckets are worth much less.
I've found that the Ertl Texaco airplanes are worth more than the proof sets. The grandkids love to play with them. The wings will bend but they don't snap off like plastic toys.

I have bought a few NCLT silver impaired proof coins for below the actual silver value over the years. The are just included in my junk silver collection.
Most of this sort of stuff has the potential for winding up being a candidate.
