This 4 coin series had an issue price of $99.99 each. So total for the set was about $400. Okay, fine. Now I have been told that the unsold stock was sold to Silvertowne and ModernCoinMart for $19.99 each. Total for for coins $80.00 or so, and they have been selling the four coins series together for about $80 USD. Now RCM, I ask you, how is this fair to your customers? If this is true, I am completely disappointed and very upset with the RCM. Basically, the RCM just caused their 'most loyal customers' to lose $320 on their $400 investment in the span of 6 months. Very upsetting. Any one else have any comments on this? Here is the link to the 4 coin deal for $80 which is now sold out: https://www.moderncoinmart.com/inve...ckaging.html

I do not see anywhere that they sold the four coin set for $80.00?

JGG "Now I have been told that the unsold stock was sold to Silvertowne and ModernCoinMart for $19.99 each." Please don't make unfactual statements on a public forum. Have you been told by a person you had a beer with last night or a rep with the RCM.

I bought the Canada 2015 Sportfish North America 4 Rainbow Trout Trophy Fish $20 Silver Proof back in June at full price. It is a great looking coin and the detail on the reverse is outstanding. I don't care what they are selling for now, I think I got value for my money even at the original price tag.

Agreed, I got the entire set full price with the wooden box because I love fishing and I love the coins.

This is nice, that we sometimes buy coins for issue, just because we like the coin and want to add it to our collection immediately.
But....in case when the coins come from the dealer in mint condition, to get it for fraction of issue and the wooden box (CAD 80 instead of 400) it way more better.

If Silvertowne had it at those prices they most likely commissioned the issue and are just blowing things out like they always do with a flop, but the price seems extreme even for Silvertowne

Its nice to buy a coin you enjoy but I always have a bad feeling when the coin I bought at issue price is available for 30-40% off a few months down the road.

Sign of the times I guess, only hardcore collectors who dont care about losing money are happy buying at issue price, sad but true, just too many coins floating around, something has to give, discounted prices was/is inevitable.

I seem to recall MCM had them for a ridiculous price - something like $125 for the set. There was a post on the other forum but I can't seem to find it now (didn't look very hard) As it is now, they only have the Pike and Trout for 38-39USD depending on how you pay. They have graded versions for more. That's a little less more than half the issue price in CAD. https://www.moderncoinmart.com/2015...rn-pike.htmlSilvertowne don't list these coins on their site currently.

This thread would be a whole lot different if they were selling for $800. Just goes to show you... you never know what is going to increase, decrease or maintain it cost. If you like it and want it. Does it really matter what it costs. (if you can afford it)?

From the original forum on this topic https://goccf.com/t/197148&SearchTerms=sportfish 'Solidifier' said Quote: I was on the fence with this series. I like it a lot but didn't want to spend that much money. I'mglad that Silvertowne has it. They usually put items like that on sale later on when they don't all sell :) Prophet? Optimist? Soothsayer? Who else could have predicted this.

There is a long thread where many of us expressed our opinions of this set. https://goccf.com/t/197148#197148The coins were also widely discussed in the monthly release threads. However, I don't think this thread was started to talk about these coins per se but rather the assertion that the Mint was somehow 'dumping' excess stock to be sold by US dealers. IF that is in fact the case with these coins or others, we should all be concerned. I think most of us hope that the mint melts or doesn't produce the full mintage of unpopular coins. It would be really bad for us collectors if they decided to liquidate excess coins at huge discounts as a matter of practice. To that end, I have yet to meet a collector who expected to put his/her collection to the curb whenever they are done with it. Point being, we all care to some degree about future value. BTW, I think it does matter how much it costs to most people. Who wants to pay more than the next guy for the same thing? That is buyer insanity lol.

MCM sold this set for $129 USD shipped in their ebay store. I bought it at that price. Paradise Mint and MCM are selling a huge number of the 2015 Sportfish, 2015 Grizzly, 2014 Deer, 2014 Bison, and 2013 Eagle coins on ebay and their websites graded and in OGP. The market is flooded to the point where they are selling on ebay in OGP in the $20s. Some graded 70 are selling in the high 30s. Not sure where they are coming from but they are still being listed.

Check Paradise Mint $0.99 auctions on ebay. They are still listing the eagles, deer, bison, and grizzly. There must be a 100 listings a day between OGP and graded 69s & 70s.
