What's the deal with the Fine silver coin - the Canadian maple leaf and fine silver coin with ANA privy mark that have made them sell so quickly? I understand the Canadian maple leaf because of the unique shape but the Privy mark coin seems unappealing to me. I am new to the RCM so any help is appreciated :) |

I believe this is one of the lowest mintage for privy mark?

Privy Mark, with or without special occasions, and the coin finish - this is what would differentiate between standard bullion Maple Leaf coin and special edition (Privy Mark, Reverse proof "Satin" finish, 5000 mintage).
All of these makes Silver Maple Leaf coin more collectible, but still to be in the group of the SMLs, and the SML itself popular among collectors / stackers.
This explains, why it selling fast (but doesn't mean that it will hold the value).
And the Maple Leaf-shaped coin - just the gimmick.
Probably huge allocation went abroad.

oh man I just saw the coin, BEAUTIFUL. I have last years coin slabbed ANA chicago privy and being in chicago, I proudly have it on my desk. I must have this coin but like the last one I got, I will be waiting until they go on sale for much less than what they want now :( |

Thank you! I like the coin very much, not a super fan of maple leaf coins but this reverse proof with the privy mark just always looks so good, I even have that WMF Berlin maple leaf coin, I like them a TON.
Yes you are right, it does appear they are veryyyy popular, also did they cut the mintage in half too? I thought these were 10K last year but maybe I am wrong?
In anycase, this will be a coin I MUST get, even with silver prices dropping I just I dunno, the Chicago connection is special to me.

The 5000 is "limited" mintage by Mint's definition. But you know, it possible, that they will issue ANA Chicago Privy SML also for next years.....you can have a set. In my visit to Chicago I bought "Lincoln Chronicles 1 cent coins set" - nothing special, but wanted something coin-related from the city. Liked the city much. Added: Thanks to report by Justsilver on RFD, but this coin sold-out almost everywhere. New hit by RCM and people didn't load atleast 5-10 units? Edited by Silveroid

I think you can order a custom privy mark for a minimum order of around 5000 units, how valuable can these bullion coins go? As mentioned the RCM probably has held back a large quanity for next weeks ANA show. |
