Is this real because when I searched this type of error there's always a partial print of the next bill on the top. This one is blank

Inverted 3rd printing (seals and serial numbers). There were originally 32 notes from the same sheet printed like this. How many made it past inspection at the BEP is anyone's guess.

Appears to be circulated. Value is in the 150$ to 200$ range.

Looks like a type 2 inverted overprint. The reason you're not seeing another note on the upper margin is due to its plate position. I can't quite tell from your photo, but it appears to be A1 which would indicate that it was at the top left of the sheet.

John100...

If the note was uncirculated it would be worth more. Paper money error collectors are very picky.

Inverted printing errors like this are scarce, but not "stupid money" rare. They show up in currency auctions and on ebay quite frequently. You gotta remember that the BEP has printed a lot of currency the last 125 years and printing errors are part of the process. Most of the errors printed get caught at inspection. Those that don't, end up getting sent to the Federal Reserve Banks and then eventually find their way into circulation....like this note.

Your series 1988A $5.00 inverted serial number D70274893B was printed in March 1994.
The serial number is assigned to plate number H4, and since COPE trims the 32 subject notes in half vertically before printing the serial numbers, and this sheet was rotated 180° prior to the 3rd printing, the plate position on your error note should be A3.

The BEP used both COPE & LEPE Overprinting on the series 2009 f/w $1.00 notes... Both systems used a different numbering format, and the LEPE does not require cutting the sheets in half prior to serialing..

If your note has Plate position number A1, then it would also be considered a COPE switching error...
