I took a chance on this one on ebay, I'm pretty pleased with it overall. There are some tiny rim nicks and a couple tiny scratches, a planchet crack runs to Georges nose from the rim, that might deter the most stringent of collectors of the series. On the plus side, the details are strong, and some luster remains bright in the protected areas, most noticeably around the shield and below Britannia. A tougher coin to find in this condition.

That's a lovely coin EFLC, to be honest the die crack shouldn't put many off, but the carbon spots might.

Great detail on the hair and shield, a really good find!

I would be very happy to have this one in my collection. They circulated throughout the Australian Colonies, and as such, form an essential part of Australian coinage history.

It's the 1827 penny that is the really tough one to get in VF or better. They are worth $thousands in top condition.
The 1827 date for the penny was never released into circulation in Great Britain; all of them were released into circulation in Tasmania.
They all saw very heavy circulation over an extended period of time, and they NEVER turn up in top condition. You are even very lucky once in a lifetime to find one in G condition.
