Well, "ex" is Latin for "from", and usually designates an item that is "from" a collection, perhaps the Remick collection in this case. Otherwise, not sure of your question.

Yes it's from the Remick collection. I believe he has pasted on but he had a very large collection of tokens if my memory is correct.
Cheers, Bill

Jerome "Jerry" Remick was a well-known numismatist (and geologist) in Canada and around the world. He was heavily involved with the RCNA (that's where I met him a couple times) and authored some books too (mostly commonwealth coinage, I believe). He was a prolific writer of numismatic articles and member of many, many clubs (his letterhead had a good third of the page listing the clubs!).

Remick was also a geologist, he worked for the Quebec government survey. He was a prolific writer in numismatics. I have one ex-Remick coin in my collection. http://www.PCGS.com/cert/11705144

Remick also designed and created many medals. The reverse of this medal is the coolest design ever - for me (being a geologist and collector).

Yes, truly Jerry Remick was an outstanding numismatist; over the past years I've occasion to correspond with him and did meet him once in Toronto. I still do not have an "ex-Remick" item but I keep looking. I do have a 5cent Tombac that is "ex-J. D. Ferguson".
