I had a coin graded by PCGS that I am waiting to be shipped to me and note the graded reference is DNC ? [ not sure what that means ] my wife says it sounds like something medical ?

So I sent in a coin 1972 D Kennedy No FG Anacs 7473568. I sent it in as a MS63 Minimum Grade. It came back today with a DNC on my paperwork but they put it in a PCGS Holder and sent the Anacs Label in a separate flip. So they took a coin valued at about $1250 and screwed me over and sent a coin that isn't worth nothing now. What can I do about this? I would have assumed DNC meant exactly that it DNC and it would be sent back in it's original holder. I am so mad, I am thinking of suing PCGS unless they correct the label! Has anyone heard of doing this (designating a DNC and then moving it to a PCGS label)? The new label says PCGS MS63 but no mention of a No FG and the number on the label says it is invalid.

I'm not a fan of crossing over slabbed coins.

It's my understand that if a coin grades the same, the coin will not crossover. Is that correct? Sounds like you're out the cost of grading but, I would take it out of the holder and re-submit. From what I've been reading, I'm not a fan either.

Hi @famiglietti49 - a word of caution. A collector who knows what they're doing will look closely at a coin and likely ignore the holder when deciding how much to pay. It's a common misconception that a graded coin can be lined up with the trend pricing and that this is the amount a person can expect to receive. This is almost always a recipe for disappointment.
Crossover or no crossover and regardless of who graded a coin, the holder is not going to guarantee a sale price.

Why collectors do this is beyond me . Newbies and neophytes have gone grading mad . All you do is get frustrated and send the likes of NGC and PCGS boat loads of hard earned money! Buy and sell the coin , not the holder !!!

@Pacificoin - exactly. And focus on things that within your area of interest (if you're interested it's likely that someone else is too). But, if you're in it with some hope of return on investment, focus on rarity and the highest grades and eye-appeal that you can afford. Doing that means you need to look past the holder and dispassionately assess the coin.
I know one prominent Canadian collector who cracks every graded coin he buys out of the holder. It's perhaps a little extreme - but I understand why he does it. The holder is sometimes/often a distraction.
