g,day this penny is a bit fatter and heavier than the normal run it even sticks out of the card more but the strange bit on the reverse some of the fields are missing for eg; the lighthouse the ocean the ship and the background its got me gobsmacked hey!   be good to hear anything about it.

Need to know the weight. Normal thickness ones are 18.8 grammes.

I do have a set of scales at the workshop I use for measuring liquid catalyst etc I might have a go at pinching for my PC office hey, there is only me to blame. Regards Al

I think this is an 1826 copper halfpenny. This would be of similar size to the later Victorian bronze pennies with the lighthouse and ship. No halfpennies or pennies were struck in 1828 - the only British copper coin issued was the farthing, which is around the size of a US nickel (smaller than an Australian 10c).

g,day I have just weighed the 1828 and it is 18g in a card but it is not a penny as I listed I just printed out the info and as was mentioned no 28 was minted only in a halfpenny.

Standard unworn George V1 copper halfpenny is 28mm diameter, with a weight of 9.3 grammes.

Unfortunately its heavily corroded and only worth throwing in the bin.
Dont want to sound harsh but its not worth anything.

I think that is a wrong attitude. I have some coins that are valued at $thousands. I also have lots of older coins that would have very little value. I get just as much fun with my high falutin' high valued coins, as I do with my much lesser coins, which make up the great bulk of my collection. I have a nice run of about 60 English copper and bronze coins Charles 11 - Elizabeth 11. Almost all of them up the the reign of George 111, are in only average G - VG condition. Lotsa fun !
