I have several 1965, 66, and 67 Canadian silver dollars, and a single 1983 commemorative dollar. All coins feature the 2nd bust of the Queen. It appears that the bust on the later coin is slightly smaller and of lower relief than the older silver dollars. Her Majesty's titles "Elizabeth II" and "D G Regina" also were moved slightly inward compared with the older dollars. I'm speaking strictly in terms of the 80% and 50% silver dollars, not the nickel Voyageurs.
I'm curious when the adjustment to the smaller and lower relief portrait took place.
The change was made in 1971 when the RCM started producing Commemorative Silver Dollars. The bust was slightly reduced and more detail was added to the hair.
