This may be off topic here, if so - sorry. I'll delete or maybe it could be moved to a more appropriate forum? Sure thing!

An individual is considering purchasing this for $1,600. It doesn't look quite right to me, but I know nothing about this series or anything about recognizing fakes, for that matter!

Any help appreciated!

One thing I do notice which does not look right is that the 1st Star is too close to the hair. Or is that a variety?

There are several things about this piece that appear suspect not the least of which is the $1600 asking price. This piece has XF level of detail remaining and would be worth much more than $1600 unless it had major problems and none are apparent. The reverse has fewer question marks than the obverse where there are many unusual characteristics. Pass on it.

The denticles are pretty much a conclusive indicator that the coin is not genuine. I would stay far away from this one.

I can't condemn this one just yet. If it is fake, it is a VERY good one (the best I have seen) not of Chinese origin. All devices match the BB-125 variety.

The funky stuff with the denticles is likely due to the abundance of rim hits. See if you can get an edge pic.

They are going to send it in to NGC. If I learn how it comes back, I will let you know!
