More of these have come out of the woodwork this year than in past years...

I've acquired three just recently

Congrats!
I'm surprised at the prices, maybe time for me to sell a couple.
I notice all three are the N/N die type.
Do you find that the ones from the other die are much rarer?
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Yes...the other A/V type is scarcer for sure...

The prices are fine...these should be going for $1000 in G and $2000 in VG (once published of course) ;)

There are two types of 1872 25c A/V.

Type 1 - has N/N in Canada
Type 2 - has Die Crack between C and A of CANADA

lovely example

I need someone to explain me the rational or irrational behind all the attention that people give to a certain error and not an other one. For example that boring plug V and die crack on the 1872 quarter to a 1880 nickel that I posted a topic on here few days ago .That nickel with multiples dots and plug between CE@NTS seem to me much more interesting ?

Collectors decide whats interesting...

the 1872 25c A/Vs are interesting because there is a real 1872 50C A/V variety out there...hence you get a little "series"...

I do agree that once you get into die cracks, die chips, die clogs...collector interest is very variable and fickle
