Quote: This should give you guys a chuckle Oh, that is hilarious Some computer or person must not be able to read something on the address and it is going in circles. I had a similar thing happen to a package of mine once. The post office kept reading a 4 in the zip code as a 9 and the package wend round and round. I was in a panic because my passport was in the package . It eventually arrived after a week long tour of the country. Other than that, I have never had a problem with the USPS. UPS is another story. When I started on ebay, UPS actually destroyed 3 of the first 5 things I shipped by completely crushing the boxes. Then, they refused to pay the insurance claim (I bought separate insurance). There is more to the story that UPS couldn't get right - but I am getting mad thinking about it so I will stop writing I won't use UPS ever again.

UPS isn't much better...they prioritize businesses over residential deliveries. Everyday @ work the UPS truck comes before I unlock the door. I actually took a day off work last month to receive a much anticipated package @ home (guaranteed delivery by 8pm) The truck pulls up @ 7:47pm.

I recently had a package I was supposed to receive and the tracking information never changed from the time it was dropped off until it was delivered at my house 2 days late.

It's a Christmas miracle. The package is alive, but not delivered yet. Figured it would eventually get there, just happy it was sooner rather than later. Glad buyer was more patient than I. Let me ask a stupid question. The package is to a PO box with signature confirmation. The tracking says, "sorting complete, out for delivery." What does that mean? Not sure how it can be out for delivery. Maybe a slip of paper in the po box?

Interesting thread.
I've had thousands of coin transactions with USPS over a long life, both sending and receiving, using regular through Express Mail. I've had maybe a half dozen problems, all of which were worked out, with only one insurance claim - which was settled promptly. I send low-value (less than $500) coins without insurance using Priority Mail all the time, and never use the insurance option on Priority Mail Express if the item is worth less than $5K. I have a neighbor who is a USPS carrier, and he tells me what the risks are for a handler who cannot document the delivery of a package that must be signed for.

Yeah, I agree the individual risk for the carrier has to be great. I worry more about all the sort facilities they go through, sometimes 4 or 5 on a cross country trip. But like you, they always seem to get there, the only question is...when?

Glad to see your situation has a good ending. I have a package that its tracking hasn't updated since the 4th. Seems a lot of people have the same situation, a lot of problems with the Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Holiday rush. Hoping it gets here eventually...
