I have about $700 in halves which I changed from my bank few months ago for CRH. I did find one Franklin half, but that's it. Not even one 40% Kennedy. So I set out to spend as much as possible today. $41.00 in gas $24.50 Ace hardware $33.50 for lunch for three $27.00 at Whole Foods $15.50 Von's supermarket $2.00 Homeless lady in front of Von's $143.50 - Total $65,656 to go. p.s. I just couldn't bring myself to spend halves for dinner at the restaurant. $

In the past two weeks, I have handed out $823 in half dollars in this time at our farmers markets and bill paying. Enjoy half dollars! I did have the first Franklin in a long time pop up in one of the rolls. It was a mintage that I did not have and that made me happy. It takes a LONG time to collect a series from circulation that has been out of circulation for so long.... I wonder if there are others like me handing out these quantities of halves as change to consumers. I don't know of anyone else but I would not know.

Very nice. I have found handing a coin or bill that someone is not used to seeing brings them some joy and happiness. When I bought a $1.00 coffee the other day I asked the cashier if she would like me to pay with a regular dollar bill or would she like the $2.00 bill I showed her. Her face lit up just seeing the bill and she actually said the two please. A lot of young adults have never seen a Kennedy half or an Ike dollar, etc. Tip a waiter or waitress great they might not tell a sole, but they all tell somebody about the Ike or Kennedy. Good to spread the joy.
