$1 Ike, Original Oyster House, Mobile, Alabama,, $1 Ike, Blalok Seafood & Specialty, Gulf Shores, Alabama, $1 Ike, DeSoto's Seafood Restaurant, Gulf Shores, Alabama,, & $3 Ikes, Original Oyster House, Gulf Shores, Alabama... all left with tips ...
... got great responses from all recipients, but one waiter in particular blew me away...here's the story: ...
...My wife & I had eaten lunch in Gulf Shores at the Original Oyster House (great local seafood, everything possible is bought locally & prepared fresh ...great food & generous portions ...highly recommend this place if you're ever in Gulf Shores or Mobile...!) We had a good waiter, & I had left him a nice tip + an IKE as displayed in this accompanying photo. ... the guy was busy when we left, & I didn't get a chance to get his response...moments later, he chased me down in the parking lot..."
Sir !...SIR! ! ...You're not gonna believe this! ... Look what I always carry in my back pocket !..."
...Well, dude pulls out a beautiful 1972-S DCAM Proof IKE ... that he was casually carrying in his pocket...
unprotected...
...As he was literally rubbing it with his fingers, I quickly stopped him & explained to him what he had ...
...He then said..."
WOW...you're a collector, & know so much about this, I want you to have this one !...". He was insisting that I take it, but I refused...
...I explained that he should never touch it again, & to place it in the protector sleeve I had given him, & put the (AU) IKE (I'd given him) in it's place, if he just had to carry one.
...Believe it or not, his IKE had no visible contact damage, but I'm certain that, under magnification, it would reveal some abuse ... OUCH...
...I suggested he take it to the nearest dealer (Pensacola Florida, Emerald Coast Coins) & have them assess & evaluate it for him ...
...& once again, I didn't think to photo-document this, as I was taken by surprise ... from now on, I'll try & capture moments like this to share...
...ANYWAY...
