Wow, I guess it has been a while since I have posted my spending. The original thread is finished. Yahoo! We did it. I think it is great to have different threads for dollar coins and half dollars. I will be posting to both since I love to spend both, and $2 bills also of course.

So for my tally since the last time:
$1 at Italian store
$2 during trip to Maryland
$16 at the club for drinks and tips (mostly tips)
$1 at Wendys
$3 at grocery store
$1 at barber for tip
$7 at Subway
$2 at gas station
$3 at bowling
$7 at Taco Bell
$7 at Arbys
$16 at Rite Aid
$2 for turnpike tolls
$2 in Salvation Army buckets
$1 at Dairy Queen
---------------------
$71 total

$99,484 to go

I spent $100 in Eisenhower's (I kept the all the 40% silver and the decent ones) at Best Buy and 20 dollars on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (now that was a rip off) so that should make it $99,364 to go.

Spent $5 in dollar coins on lottery tickets.

Do you know how many halves I could get with $700 million?

I bet I could round up and hold 25% of the circulation supply finally outting all of the silver hiding in the back of the vaults.

Spent $5 in dollar coins to with some halves at the beer store.

$99,307 to go

Well...
The mint has produced 2,769,038,413 circulating clad half dollars from 1971 to 2001 (excluding proofs and 1987). If we assume a survival rate of maybe 70%, that leaves 1,938,326,889 coins. With your $700 mil, you could get 941,500,000 after the 25% federal lotto tax and the 7.75% WI state tax. You could therefore theoretically acquire about 48.6% of circulating clad halves. That would vary, of course, depending on the amount of silver, proofs and NIFC you got, as well as the actual survival rate.
There you have it.
