Im thinking its just a type of worthless doubling. Closer pics are needed to be 100% sure, though...

It looks like the field was over polished in that area. When this happens the devices get the angled look with the thinnest part of the device near the rim. They tried to remove the issue and continue to use the die.

The area with the strongest removal of the field, will show a thinned device near the field.

Probably the real price is marked on the reverse of the coin. My explanation was what happened. But it adds no value as far a I know.
