"I know I won't be able to get it at a steal so no one else should either."

I believe that was exactly what I meant.

I'm sorry for being such a selfish . I was having a bad day and was angry at people in general at the moment. I was pretty sure that I would not be able to afford it even if I did not tell the seller, so I wanted someone else (the seller) to be happy that was not more financially fortunate than I was. So I should have tried getting it for a steal without telling the seller? I'll keep that in mind.

Again, I apologize for letting you all down in my selfish endeavors that I should have kept private.

So the moral of the story is to never tell the seller what he/she actually has, even if you think you could afford it or not? Got it. I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm having a bad day and I see something while perusing your stuff for sale.

No. The moral of the story is it's not ok/hypocritical to do so out of spite/anger/frustration because you knew you wouldn't be able to get it at a steal yourself.
As I said before I think telling sellers in situations like the coin we are discussing is a good thing in general to do but you are doing so for the wrong reason here it feels like.

This makes sense and I fully agree. I figured I was in the wrong when amida posted, and your comment confirmed that. I apologize to anyone annoyed or hurt by my actions.

But the coin has sold. There's no going back. The deed was done.
