coppernickel....

what is your method to your hunting. it sounds like you get 2 boxes per day? could you, if you dont mind, going into your dumping/reroll methods... etc. I have done a few boxes, with better than avg results, but not kept up with it. your finds are inspiring me to get more boxes, more frequently. thanks

SDcoinguy,

I wish I could do two boxes per day! Each update that I post is two boxes, and I try to do three updates per week. So more like two boxes every other day. Although I have been known to have eight boxes in front of me at the same time! I dump at two different banks; one that has a coin counter in the lobby that luckily is free to non-customers (although I bring a dozen donuts to them every few weeks to stay on their good side!) and the other I bring rolls to (one of the two banks that I do business with). I prefer to buy Brinks boxes (the ones wrapped in clear plastic) as they seem to yield the best results, but I will buy the Garda/String rolls too, if the need arises. I won't turn down customer rolls, as they have the potential of yielding the best stuff. I also have a bank downtown with a counter in the lobby that the head teller calls me every time the nickel bag fills up. A bag is equal to two boxes, so each bag is an update. Good luck searching!

CND - Guessing you had to burn through that whole box after finding two buffalos in a single roll. Man, I don't think I could stop after that.

Also...could you send me one of those 55's? That and the 50-D is all I need to complete my set. (I kid about sending me one, I'll find one eventually)

As a CPA hasn't been much time for searching for me lately other than a couple rolls late at night when I get home. Walked into the house last night at about midnight with 12 rolls left in a horrible box I started last weekend (12 pre-60's in 38 rolls). I say to myself those famous last words, "I'll just open one roll." and proceed to spend a half hour going through those last 12 rolls that yielded 12 pre-60's. Found an AU 1939 (no DDR) and only my 2nd 1958, so was well worth my time. :)

HH all.

I found my first proof in the wild - 1994 S. It's amazing that behind all the scratches, the mirror finish still shines.

Finally had a chance to plug my last 7 boxes into my spreadsheet of searching since Dec. 2009. These are my results through 44,000 coins, 1,100 rolls.

--------------Rolls per----Per Box--Total
Total 30's------44.00------1.14-----25
Total 40's------5.31-------9.41-----207
Total War-----100.00-----0.50-----11
Total 50's------3.32-------15.05----331
Pre - 60's------1.94-------25.82----568
Buffalos--------220.00-----0.23-----5
Proofs----------550.00-----0.09-----2

I've found all but 6 of the pre-60 Jeffersons, those missing are: 38D, 42P, 44P, 45S, 50D, and 55.

My set is missing only the 50D and 55.

Happy Hunting!

Another box down.

3 Wars (42Px2 and 44S)

2 Bahamas (1981 and 87)

16 other 59 and belows. Filled another hole with a 40D.

That is 7 wars from the last 2 boxes after going thru three boxes with none. Anomalies like that make the hunt fun.

Here are the pics from above post. found a few 64s also. These aren't in great shape at all, but still nice to have. Would love to hear the stories the 42 and 39 could tell.

brad, have you verified that the 39 isn't a Hennings? It's a long shot, but even monkeys fall out of trees once in a while...
