Went through one box, found two 38d!! First time have two semi-key Nickels in the same box.

i started my quest to complete a set of Jefferson's, from roll searching, in august. I have only completed 4 boxes - so far, and have only 16 holes left to fill. obviously the hardest ones are left, and one of the missing is 2010D - which should show up soon. I live on the east coast, so that one is just a matter of time.

i have also found coins from 11 different countries - included.

just having fun - so far.

Finished a box today. 26 pre 1960, average box but upgraded 4 coins and kept 6 others that were just to good to thru back. Also, have found in 2010 nickels till this box and had 12 "P" and 3 "D". Couple of the 2010P's were beat badly but was found.

No buffalo or War Nickels, next box I'm sure...

Yes...it's official. 100,000 nickels have been searched by DylansDad.

Here's an amazing stat. Had to wait until the last box of those to find a 2009-D, and then pulled 3 of them. Before that, I'd only found a single 2009-P.

(Still no 1955.)

the hobby is NOT always about making money. (that can be a nice side affect). usually it is the journey - not the destination.

Well said!

Except I would probably change it to say "the hobby is never about making money."

Last few boxes have been uneventful - especially since I've only found 2 wars in the last 6 boxes!

My last box, however, had about 2.5 rolls of BU 60-81 nickels interspersed in around 6 rolls. They are clearly related as they were mostly toned a distinct yellow color and most had a nice cartwheel luster and sharp edges. It's a shame they're not wars or from an era where the nickels weren't so badly struck (most are from the early 60s).

finally am finishing up a brinks box I got last wednesday
3 wars so far with 11 rolls to go
no buffalos but an array of 40's and 50's
42D (not silver variety)
1944P
1943P X2
those are the main good ones
then lots of the other more common dates
***Also about the whole making money thing I hate it when the tellers ask me
if its really worth it for me to go through the boxes
they ask me how much I make? When I tell them nothing because I will never sell my coins
and since you really don't find that much really good stuff they look at me like I'm nuts.
Then I realize....I am.
Then I come here and feel accepted lol
don't pick up the hobby to make money or you will be very disappointed
I am just trying to get circulated dates and mm's of every coin I can
from halves through pennies
to ikes to president and susan b dollars lol
It's just fun!

Congratulations DylansDad!

For my news ......

Check out this end-of-roll coin ....... just picked these up at the bank ....... can't wait to bust that "V" out and see the date.

This will make the third I've found in over 210,000 coins searched.

Indeed ..... turns out it was a 1907 which I grade at G-4. Amazing to find a 103-year old coin in a bank roll.

Also ..... just for you DylansDad ..... the same exact roll yielded my 10th .... yep 10th ... 1955 Philly Jefferson.

Geepers ..... you have all the 43-D and I have all the 55-P.
