2010's are getting tiresome...although, I've still been pulling the highest quality ones.

Finished a box on Tuesday, 24 pre-60, including a lone War Nickel 45-D, but thre were 18 different date/mintmark combinations. Unusual variance from the normal heavy on the 58-D and 59-D usually included in my tallys.

Ive yet to find any 2010ds in boxes though I actually got 3 of them in change at a cvs here in new jersey of all places! The 2010p I can find in boxes, though quite infrequently.

Speaking of 2010 - worst box EVER. I thought it was solid 2010D, but I saw one 1979 peeking out of one of the ends so I knew the box was mixed. There where 1-3 non 2010D coins in each roll and none of them were older than 1963. I kept one half-way interesting Greaser out of the whole box. What a waste.

Finished a box tonight. 29 pre 60 highlighted by a 43P, a 37 buffalo, and a 49S. Not a bad box.

For those wondering about 2010 boxes, I got a box from Wells plump full of 2010D's.

I just finished my nickel CRH inventory so far and I thought I would post everything that I found. 4 proofs (1963, 1981s, 1998s, and 2005s)

Great detailed summary post sich0015!

I'm a big fan of roll-searching nickels ........ and enjoyed your photos as well. You have some great finds so far. See you still need the 43-D and 50-D ..... and amazing that you have found 3 total 1939-D.

Over the New Years holiday break I am going to compare (for myself) your find rates versus where I am at 230,000 coins searched ...... I'll share the results in this thread for general interest.

You can find my 230,000 coin summary elsewhere in this forum.

Thanks for sharing.

David

Greetings all,

Searched my first box of nickels a couple days back and did alright. Would like to do it more often but they are a bear to dump! Here is what I got - is that amount of foreign normal? Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Silver - 1 (1943 S)
Pre-1955 - 14 (no top ten nickels)
Westward Journey - 67 (all mint marks for all varieties)
Canadian - 13
Other Foreign - 3 (1996 & 1997 Bermuda nickels, 1991 Japanese Fifty Yen)

Xavier - I know! I actually had never got one of those before. The weird thing is I believe the first came out of roll #7, while the second came out of the seventh from last roll.

Thanks nickelsearcher! I enjoy the statistics too. Just two left to complete the set and they are going to be tough. I haven't filled a hole in quite a while.

Unfortunately my figure of 160,000 searched is only a close estimate. I would say it is plus or minus 1000. I searched about 10,000 nickels twelve years ago but I didn't keep track so I can't be sure. One of the 1939d finds was from back then. The rest of my search has been this year but my finds from back then were mixed with this year's finds. I have been keeping accurate stats on the 150,000 searched this year.

Hey cravenfan, check those Canada nickels for dates 1955-1981 because they are almost 100% nickel and worth 10 cents each in metal value and probably more in the next couple of years.
