eaglefoot, how many boxes did it take you to fill a whole coin tube of 2009 d? I've only done 3 boxes so far. first box had 9 2009 d's, second had none, and the third had another 9 of them.

The 2009 P & D Jeffersons, total mintage, are one of the lowest mintage in Jefferson nickel history......that's why I save any I come across.....  There are varied opinions on saving these......to each his own. Quote:

My nickel searching has slowed down this year compared to last (I've been hitting the halves pretty hard) and most of my boxes have been pretty sad. Pulled a very nice 38-S out last night and I was a little sad because I was hoping it was a 38-D. Oh well, got a a few other upgrades in the box too including 42-D, 46-S and 52-S. Overall a pretty high concentration of San Francisco keepers considering I'm in Chicago. So that puts me at 4 holes left after 57 boxes since Dec 09 - 38D, 39D, 44S and 50D.

$100.00 box today : 3 Silver : 2-1943P and 1-1943S and 3 Buffaloes, a 1936P and 2 with no date legible. *1-1997P- 3/4th's improperly annealed(sintered) on the Obverse and fully sintered on the Reverse. Coin is redder than these 2 pics show.   |

I finished a box today and managed to pull 2 silvers (1943p, 1942p), a 1989p partial collar, a 1938p in either au or ms condition, and what appear to a MS 1982p, and a MS 1953. I'm posting those 3 coins in the grading section.

Another $100 box today: No buffalos, no silver, but I did find one semi-key I needed, a handsome 1955 that looks around XF-45! Also found an almost-semi-key that I already have: a 1958. I'd also like to mention that as of now, I've filled up 5 tubes of 2009D, yet only have found a single 2009P.  |

1935 Buffalo found ! (date VERY readable) And prolly last box of Nickels for me for awhile.....takin' a long deserved break !....  I've filled one and a quarter tubes of 2009 D's....and have found maybe 7 or 8 P mints now......  Edited by eaglefoot

just did a box. a few good keepers, I got: 1939 s 1943 s War Nickel1944 s War Nickel1950 p 2009 d (x10) had other good ones too but they were doubles. these are ones that filled holes for me. it was just my 4th box though. |

I just looked through $40.00 and 1 silver 1945P, 1 Buffalo 1935, a 1938, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942plain, and a few other 1940s and 1950s. There was a 1970s of which I have found 4 so far. There were quite a few 60s and 70s as well. No 2009 at all. I just started looking for those! Also, not many 2008 either.
In this batch there was 1 Canadian 1992, Confedoeratio Helvetica 20, 1967 which it seems is Swiss and I cannot find the metal content and a United Arab Emerates rounded Hexagon coin with 3 oil wells. Anyone know anything on the last 2 coins? Weird! all were machine wrapped from 2 different local banks.

Went trough six rolls this afternoon. Found two or three keepers for the 7113, including a nice 1964.
Also found a 1975 Canadian.
A 1946, 1947, 1953 and a 1955.
Two 1962 D's and one 1962
Four 1964 D's and Three 1964's

I went through a $100 box earlier today.
Got no silver this time, but I scored a 1935-D Buffalo with a mushy, barely readable date in G-4 otherwise problem free. Always great to find branch mint buffalos!

Just finished a box,with some success! 2 Buffaloes,1-1937 and 1-dateless,presently being soaked in white vinegar in hopes of raising a date. 1 silver-1943P in average shape. About a dozen pre-59 but only kept 8,the rest were in awful shape and I already had whole tubes of them.

Yes- they are improperly annealed/sintered planchets and carry a premium to them for collectors of such.
* 1 $100 box yesterday- no Silver/Buffaloes.
1-1947S keeper.
