The Goal: 25,000 Rolls Of Nickels (All Searchers Welcome!)

Again, thanks to coppernickeldaddy for generously sharing his results with us.

Here are my results for 8,750 rolls, or 350,000 nickels searched.

At this point, I lack the following to complete a Jefferson set 1938 - 2011:

1938-S, 1939-D, 1944-S, 1950-D.

At the time of my last post, I lacked the 2011-P; I have since found several examples.

My five least common finds:

1939-S 3
1945-D T2 4
1955-P 4
1938-D 5
1942-S T2 6


My five most common finds:

1941-P 165
1940-P 168
1954-D 178
1957-D 218
1958-D 322


Oddly enough, I have found nine (at last post of 6,850 rolls, I had found seven) 1943-D issues, but *still* no 1944-S, which I find to be rather odd.

Also, in the box which took the total to 350,000 coins, I found a 1990-D "no-FS" (lacking the designer's initials) example in XF or so. I have searched for this coin from the beginning of my nickel roll searching and had been dubious of ever finding an example. For those who have not seen an image, the designer's initials cannot be seen under a 10x glass. Apparently, this variety is quite scarce.

I really enjoy reading the stats collectors and roll searchers post. I always like to see what others are coming across in circulation. This has inspired me to begin nickel roll searching again. Here are the results of the first 2 boxes:

Box 1 -
24 keepers. No wars or Buffaloes. 5 various 1940's and 19 various 1950's.

Box 2 - 'I must have got someone's collection'
185 keepers. 2 1945 war (Both P mint), 7 1939 P, 79 various 1940's and 97 various 1950's.

I hope to get 3 more boxes for the weekend and will post my results. Happy searching to all!

yeah, I think I've topped out at around 30...max.

I recently began breaking down all my roll hunting stash into individually dated rolls. I did this for both nickels and cents. It's a surprising level of organization (for me, the king of Type B personality), but makes everything so much easier when looking for varieties or if someone is looking for a specific date/mm. In some cases, I've even been able to compile rolls of single year/mm.

Went through a roll of nickels earlier:

1958-D, F-15.
2011-P, MS-64 FS (upgrade).

Hey guys....I was wondering if you could tell me the value of a Dansco set of Jefferson nickels? P D and S....no proofs. Thanks for your help.

circulated set...1950-D is MS-63 though.
