Box 28. Two holes filled! 1949S and 1942-P (silver). Not sure why that silver one too so long for me to find (58 Million made) but I got why the 49S (9.7 Million) was elusive. Other than those, I pulled two 1954-S and a fish nickel. Good box. I'm down to 6 holes, and all are below a mintage of 10 M.

That 1942 p silver is the last War Nickel I need after 50 boxes. not sure why that one is so hard. and I have 5 of the 1949 s. congrats on the hole fillers!

I went to a few different banks today. I picked up about $20 in nickels at a time. I found two War Nickels (1942 and 1943, both P) and a few common dated 40's and 50's coins. Both War Nickels came from Capital One, but different branches.

Out of one box, I found two War Nickels ('43-P and '42-P), a Buffalo with a worn date (some Nic-a-Date revealed it to be 1917), and five-cent pieces from Bermuda and Canada. This is my most fruitful search of nickels in a while.

robbudo,
I'm curious. What are your six unfilled holes?

jonnickel,
Missing the 38D, 38S, 43D, 44S, 50D, and 55. I guess 2 of these 6 have mintages over 10 M (43D and 44S) - I'm glad to have found the 39D and 39S.

Nothing worth talking about from my last box, except a 1944D.

robbudo, The three Jefferson nickels that my son and I have never found are the 1938s, 1943D, and the 1950d, that despite having looked through (I would guess) a few hundred thousand nickels. We have found 16 of the 1955p though.

Searched through $200 of nickels today and found a couple nice things: My third 1939S (which was an upgrade), and oddly enough, another 1944D.
