Hey guys! "New" here ... I've been lurking for a few months but the box I just finished prompted me to create an account haha I've been a casual collector for a while just searching through change and such every now and then but started looking through boxes not too long ago which is how I ended up finding this forum. Either way, just had my best box of nickels so far ... 1920D Buffalo nickel, dateless Buffalo nickel, 1942 War Nickel, 1943 War Nickel, 1971 proof, 2003 proof and a 2009D. Compared to some of the finds I've read about it isn't much but to me it's like I just won the lottery! |

Welcome jdbeier! There is a lot to find searching nickels and you had a great box! Quote:

You're absolutely right. :-) 1933 in my part was a rather ridiculous typo. The XF one I found was a 1936. :-)

Bought $190 in nickels yesterday and found a dateless buffalo, no silver, and on the very last roll...a 1950....PLAIN! GRRRR  |

Searched about $300 in nickel this week and found 2x buffalos 42s,43s,43p,44s,45p couple 39p and the best was a 42d in xf with most of the steps left to upgrade my album . Not bad .

Box 39: no silver, no buffaloes. I found a really cool split die https://goccf.com/t/107082 error on a 1973-D Jefferson. I also found four 12-sided Canadian nickels (1950, 1959, 1960, 1962). Not a single nickel with an 'S' mintmark either. Weird box. Edited by robbudo

I normally search halves and pennies, but I have been following this thread for a while. Last Monday on a whim, I got my first box. They were so fun, I ended up searching seven boxes this week. I have found approximately 150 pre 59' Jeffersons, but none of the 5 real key dates. Interestingly, I only found a single War Nickel (box 2 - 45P) until the last two rolls of box 7. In each of those 2 rolls, I found a 43P. I actually thought one of those rolls was solid 2011, so I had little hope for it. If I get the chance, I will post more specific results. Edited by Nobis1

I just searched another box. I got a bunch (maybe a whole roll total) of pre 1959 Jefferson's. Of those, I got a 1940-S, a 1945-P Silver, and a 1955! I got a bunch others too, but I put them into my folder and didn't mark down what they were. Oops. I was a bit upset without any buffalo's, but it wasn't a total skunk!

The 1955p is a fairly low mintage (8.3 million) coin.

My son and I did a two boxes tonight. All we found of value were one 1945S and one upgrade.

You're in for a lot of disappointments if you get upset whenever you don't find a buffalo in a box.
