I'm not concerned at all about getting sick from hunting. I just found it weird that EVERY time I search a box of nickels I get a runny nose and sneeze a lot. I don't touch my face while searching, and I wash my hands with soap about 4 times once I finish a box. So I was more curious as to why this happens.

Quote:
And you're opening cardboard boxes / breaking rolls of paper. This leads to debris and particles (dust, dander, paper, etc.) getting into the air you are breathing through your nose and also your eyes.

I never thought of that, I was always thinking it was the coins. But I think you may have nailed it. I usually get pretty allergic to dust fairy easy. So I'm sure this has to be it. once or twice I searched a box with my face covered by a shirt, I didn't get a runny nose that day. Thanks for the help. I guess I need a coin searching mask or something. hahaha.

Nice finds everyone. Last night I found my 3rd 50D, it is an elusive little bugger to say the least. I have now searched 1.3 Million nickels and that is a conservative number. I will try to get a pic up later. Good Luck. Dennis.

Wow dennis, at first I was amazed that you have 3 1950 d nickels... But you have searched over 650 boxes! You deserve those. Well I have only 2 more nickels to find and then I will stop searching. all I need is the 1950 d, and I also want to find my first V nickel. Then I think my goals will all be met and I can search dimes and halves more.

I know what you mean, I am just about to that point myself, nickels are by far my favorite coin to search, the only drawback is it is hard to amass a stockpile of Silver like you can with Halves, I search app 6 boxes of Halves a week but I will up that if I can lay off the Nics for a while which will be tough as they are very addictive. Good Luck. Dennis.

Sounds like everyone's hole filler list is slowly getting smaller. Keep on searching.

Found a really nice AU 1939, two more 43 Ps, hole fillers 46 S and 49 S. Only need:

39 D
42 S
43 D
44 D
44 S
45 D
45 S
50 D

Funny, I bought these at the last local show I went to but bought em in BU condition which is too good for my Whitman.

After probably between 200-300 boxes, we have never found a 1950d or 1943D. We have only found only one 1938s and only two of the 1938d.
