Oh my gosh, exciting day! I haven't searched any coin in over a month. I had the day off and saw a bunch of people finding Mercury dimes so I went out today and got 1 box of dimes and 1 of nickels. Found 6 silver dimes including a mercury.

Well I just started my nickels and started out. 3rd roll and I see a 1939 and I flip it and much to my amaze it was a 1939 d hole filler. So exciting to fill a hole. now all I need is the elusive 50d for a complete circulation collection. Haven't finished the box but I was just so excited at todays results that I had to post.

I think I will get back into the groove and search some more. today has definitely sparked my interest again.

How do you guys search boxes. It seems every time I do a box I get sort of sick after. It doesn't last long but my nose will start running and i'll be sneezing a whole lot. I do bare hands but don't put my hands near my face. I feel like maybe small dirt particles rise into my face or something. lol. But I get that way every single time I search a box. This happen to anyone else? Or do you guys wear masks or something?

Murrellington, I do one box of nickels and on halfs every week and have not had any sickness. I do not use gloves but have thought about getting some as coins are dirty.

That's weird, I've started to get a runny nose as I search. I never connected it to the roll searching, it was just irritating as I didn't want to touch my nose with my filthy fingers, lol.

murrellington,

I don't think you need to be overly concerned about getting sick from roll hunting. Just remember not to touch your face or things you might eat before you wash your hands. And always give them a thorough wash after sorting.

Although a stuffy/runny nose is most often caused by a viral infection, I would have to say for you it's probably environmental. If you are sorting inside there probably isn't a lot of air movement. And you're opening cardboard boxes / breaking rolls of paper. This leads to debris and particles (dust, dander, paper, etc.) getting into the air you are breathing through your nose and also your eyes. And is likely triggering a small allergic response. It doesn't take much for a nose to run, dry air does it for some folks.
