I am new to the coin community forums, actually a new member.
I am interested in roll hunting at banks for half dollars. Could someone
please direct me to the correct forum that may discuss this, actually how to do this?
I watched a you-tube video, and currently have a small to medium size coin collection.
In the video this collector gets 3 large boxes and looks at the edges of the coins. Which
I believe I can do this, and have done this. my questions are more of etiquette.

My questions are:
1.Do banks usually carry a large amount of rolls?
2.How many should I be asking for?
3.I have heard some banks are reluctant to help, as if I am asking a lot of them is this true.
4. I imagine I would have to re-roll these coins and possible put my name and phone number on them. (this may be old school)?

any ideas would be helpful.
thanks.

Silver is getting scarce though, only one War Nickel in last 5 boxes.

A couple of circulated 2009 P and D's were nice to find.

to CCF outdoorguy

I don't do halves and don't think there is a standing post on CCF for Halves Roll Hunting but that's OK.

Just go to the most appropriate section of CCF, perhaps Modern coins or General forums to post your questions or finds, etc. Just title it correctly so everyone can see the purpose of the post.

As for your questions, I'll try to give you some input:

Quote:
y questions are:
1.Do banks usually carry a large amount of rolls? The few rolls of halves I've gotten from the banks are loose, so I suppose it is hit or miss at your bank. Give it a try and get to know them and let them get to know you.
2.How many should I be asking for? Depends how much $$ you got
3.I have heard some banks are reluctant to help, as if I am asking a lot of them is this true. Could be, again if you are one of their depositors, you are their customer, some are more friendly than others
4. I imagine I would have to re-roll these coins and possible put my name and phone number on them. (this may be old school)? Find a coin machine you can dump them into free of charge

Happy Hunting and keep us informed of your success!!

What on Earth are you talking about? The JFK half dollar searching thread is one of the most if not the most active thread on CCF.

This is the thread you are looking for outdoorguy.

This was an odd box. Through the 37 boxes prior to this one I found a total of 14 nickels dated 1959. This box yielded 5! And the buffalo is a nice partial horn. I also have not found any coins from Switzerland in a box before today!
