socceraustin, don't expect to hit it big with your first box. You may get lucky and find silver and buffaloes, but you may find nothing at all. Its all in the luck of the draw! Two wheats isn't terrible with cents. Heck, I'm happy when I find one! Any find that makes you happy is worth searching for.
Congrats on the first buffalo, Nicanor!! Its been a while since I've found one. *fingers crossed*

I am so behind on my nickels... I've got 4 boxes sitting in my closet and 2 more are coming tomorrow! I'm going to try and knock out two boxes tonight. And to top it all off, I have 5 boxes sitting around that need to be dumped! I need to get on the ball, haha!

Finding buffaloes is more exciting than finding silver for me. I just love buffaloes! Looks like your post gave me some luck. I did one box last night and got two buffaloes in it! One really blackened dateless and one 1923-P. :)

hopefully there are buffs in MI still! Should find out after I hope to get my first 3 boxes tomorrow. 6000 nickels should yield something old or foreign.

Did $30 more yesterday and got a 1945-P (SILVER!), and a 1952-D. Excited because I finally got a War Nickel after a fairly long time.

As you can tell, the blackened one has seen much better days! It will be retired to a nice, new home. Here's my other finds with this box: 29- Pre 1960 Jeffersons 4- 2009-D Jeffersons 0- silver 0- foreign

Just finished going through my first 2 boxes of nickels. That was a lot of fun. No Buffaloes, but here is what I found: 1939 1940x2 1941x6 1942x3 1942Px2 1944P 1946x3 1946D 1947x4 1948D 1949 1949D 1952x2 1952D 1953x2 1953Dx2 1954Dxk 1954S 1955Dx4 1956x2 1956Dx2 1957 1957Dx6 1958Dx5 1959x2 1959Dx2 1968Sx2 1970S
2 Bermuda, 1 Canada
I also found a few that I'm not sure are worth saving because I am VERY new to this. There are six that are slightly off center so that the edge is missing on one side. Not sure of the correct terminology. There is also 1 that is off center enough that the top half of Liberty and the date are missing. Last few oddities - 2 from 1969 that are very similar to the 1959s that everyone calls Black Beauties and 1 that is completely brown.
Sorry for rambling so much, I'm just really liking this new hobby.
