Hi all, Got 20 rolls from the bank a few days ago. Cracked into them, and found 13 pre-60 Jefferson's: 40 41 45P (hole filler) 46 48S (hole filler) 53D (2) 54D 55D 56D (2) 59D (2) We've searched just over 12,000 nickels, and we're down to 16 holes in the 38-62 book, and 1 hole in the 1963-present (the elusive 2009P). Nice finds, dadsoncoinhobby! Silver is always good, as is a harder to find S-mint.

dadscoinhobby, you are probably about due to find a 2009-P nickel. I've found only 12 in almost 180,000 coins searched out here in Southern California. So I'm barely finding 1 every 15,000 coins searched!

Thanks John77! We're hopeful that is the case for the 09.
We have the more tough ones to go (38S, 39D, 39S, 42S, 43S, 44P, 44D, 45S, 46S, 49S, 50, 50D, 51, 51S, 52S, 55, and 2009-P). Just keeping on hunting

Just keep plugging away... you've already knocked off two of the toughest coins: the 38-D and 43-D. That 09-P will eventually show up... and I'm sure you'll run into the 43-S, 44-P, 51, and 52-S sometime soon. Given your location, the S mints are probably going to be the toughest - especially the 38-S, which is even hard out here in Cali. And the 39-D and 50-D of course go without saying.

I had a morning nickel skunk today... 12 MWR did not produce a single pre-60 coin! The afternoon 13 CWR did produce 4 including a 49-S, however...

$80 in CWR yielded: 37, 99.9% nickel Canadians (most came from 1 roll; not pictured) 1, 1941 (large) S 1, 1952 s 1, 1945-D war Not bad!  I also found a 1964-D, which is typically nothing special, but this coin was MS+. The coin had full steps and mint luster, but unfortunately, the reverse had two deep gouges, so I threw it back  Edited by berto

Good finds, berto... Finding 64-D nickels with full steps is VERY challenging. Heck, finding 64-D nickels with ANY definition at all in the steps area can be quite a challenge as well. They really really wore those dies out!
