I found this 1962 impaired proof in a box tonight. It is our 49th proof nickel of the year (but 33 came in 1 box of machine-wrapped rolls a few months ago). I wonder about getting a complete set of Jeffersons from circulation, including proofs.

Nice finds folks! Silver has been relatively strong the past few months. Buffalo too. With regards the BU specimens from the 60s, especially 1964 and before, you can find high grade DDRs with a little effort. When sorting a box, I sort into containers by year, but for the 60s, I keep a couple containers going. BU 60s in one and higher grade circulation finds in the other. Worn 60s go straight to the discard bucket. I search them both for varieties and usually find 1-2, but when someone dumps larger quantities, I usually find more.
Don't be in a rush to pass on the 'common' stuff. You might be surprised. Good luck folks!!

A123 - finding the later proofs is probably possible, but the earlier proofs (30s, 40s, most 50s) are significantly less likely. Fun finding proofs though! Check the one's you have found for DDO / DDR. Good luck!

New member with a neat story as far as nickels. Our son was born in 09 and iirc nickels were worth about .07 then. Well I got the idea about saving all nickels for him. To this day I have never once spent a nickel!! I've sold some war nicks in the past if I've gotten a bulk of them in a deal. If I got single ones or even buffs and V's they just went in the buckets. I keep them in 5 gallon buckets and working on filling 4th one right now.

40 rolls today produced 19 pre-60s including an AU 1941-S (Large S), 1949-S, 1951-S, amd a BU 1958-D along with another 2009-P and three 2009-Ds. I've now found 3 2009-Ps in the past 7 days of searches (8,200 coins). I had only found 11 in my previous 176,760 coins. I like the 1 per 2,733 ratio much better than the 1 per 16,069 ratio!

Today's box yielded a 1939-S, another impaired proof (1989-S), and a silver (1943-P). I haven't found a buffalo in a last five boxes, however.

Don't know how many of you get over to the error forum, but I found this the other night. Coop took my pictures to make one of his awesome educational things.

A strange day of my box worth of nickel CRH... I got 10 rolls at one bank and they produced no pre-60s, and two 2009-Ds. Interestingly, the rolls contained a total of 56 brand new 2005-P Bison nickels, but nothing else out of the ordinary. My 40 rolls from my normal bank produced 18 pre-60s, but no noteworthy dates. However, I found SEVEN 2009-Ds! So I found NINE 2009-Ds today, breaking my record in one day by three!

Nice run of 2009-D there. Sounds like you need to keep the gemmier 2005-P Bison nickels, too.
