Quote: Went through a box over the weekend and found a few highlights. A 1942P silver (our 3rd in the last month). Fooled again, hoping for the 42S we need to complete the collection. Did find a new country - a United Arab Emirates 2005 50 Fils. Overall, a fun hunt! Nice finds!

I just started searching 16,000 nickels. I have gone through about 1,000 and am amazed at how few 1940's and 1950's I am seeing. It's been a couple years since I have gone through this many and the ratio has really fallen. I have found 2 1939's, 5 1940's and just a couple 1950's. Its all OK with me but I am surprised. These couldn't have been searched as I get them from a vending machine route owner. Just an observation.

A little more than half way through 16,000 nickels I acquired from a soda/snack vendor. So far, 1 45-P and 1 45-D. Four 1939 and one 1938, all P mint. About 30 1940 mixed date. Nothing special and 23 Canadian nickels. 3 2009-D and 1 2009-P. Many 1982, 1983 and 1986-D. Lots of fun and lots of hand washing.

So, I took a little month and a half break off from CRH. Lots of personal stuff going on including my fantasy baseball leagues... My last box in mid-February produced a record low 7 pre-60s. So I got a box last Friday at my bank while I ordered two boxes of halves. Went through it on Sunday, and in the third roll, look at what popped out... Needless to say, I anxiously flipped it over, not expecting anything to the right of Monticello... however... Yes, the "D" was there! Incredibly, there was another 1950 nickel in the box ("just" a Philly), along with a 1942-D, 1994-S Proof, a 2009-P, and 2 2009-Ds... 16 pre-60s in all. No silver, but, as I always like to say, "quality over quantity!" What a nice way to get back into CRH!
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!
