I got 5 rolls from my bank today and found a few nickels for my jefferson album that I was lacking. Also found a 40 & 41. No silver or buffalos. Just a question, how often do people come across 09 nickels?

For 2009 nickels, I find a 2009D every other box and 2009Ps show up about every 8 boxes (give or take).
My recent box had a silver (43S) and about 20 pre-60's Jeffersons. No 2009s in it either.

Best box yet in my young nickel roll hunts career. I got a 1945 S, a 1935 and 1936 D, and those weren't even the finds of the box!! The winner of this box was a 1910 Liberty Nickel . I also got my usual common 40's and 50's. So I went back to the same bank today for another box and was able to snag a 45-P out of this one.

Here are the stats from my first ever box of nickels (picture above) One Buffalo nickel - 1934 1939 (3) 1940S 1941 (2) 1941D 1941S 1942 1943P 1945P 1946D 1947 1947D 1952 1953 (2) 1953D 1956D 1957D (2) 1958D 1959D (2) I also kept track of any 60's .... 104 total in that decade. I think I got someone's collection of 1964 nickels. I ended up with 18 1964 and 40 1964D. It got almost comical .... "yep, there's another 64." Observations: I was amazed at how quickly I was able to identify nickels by just their strike. I could easily tell 1990's and early 2000's that way. Also, without looking, I was able to tell that there was a low mintage of 2009 nickels. There weren't any in this box. All in all the hunt was quite fun!
