Here is another coin I found along with the 2011, this is a 2013 LSC with a very strong spread on the designer's initials on the reverse, the arrows show the different devices.

How many light sources are you using? The best is just one. That way you can have the light fall over a device to show the hub doubling. With two light sources the light creates false overlapping images of devices. I think that is why you are loosing so much color in your images.

Allow the light to flow over the device, then the spread of the hub doubling will be seen easier.

Even though this is a minor DDR, the light doesn't drown the devices.
Even flat field and hub doubling can be seen easier with the concept of taking images.

I have a USB microscope with LED lights. I also turn off the light next to my computer when searching coins. If I dim the LED lights on the scope it gets darker. so the only light I use is the scope's LED's, I just started looking with it about 6 months ago and all my pictures have been taken with it.I have not set up a good place to take pictures yet, but hope to if I ever find anything.

Could you post the setup you are using? I might be able to help make suggestions. I use an inexpensive light setup. When I got my new scope, I tried the light for a few hours and realized it would not work. Removed it and hopped up my old setup a bit. Turned it from 6V to 12V with a Radio Shack adapter. Changed the bulb to 14 watt and re-constructed the hangers and setup I've been using for years.
The light can be bought online on ebay is called "Mighty Bright."

You can find them as lighting for sheet music or in the book light areas. Don't get the adapter. Get one from Radio Shack that is adjustable. (Also has multiple ends for the connection sizes. You can order the bulbs online as well. The mighty bright blubs don't last long, so don't buy extras of these. The 14 Watt bulbs last a very long time. They keep working for years, but turn dark with age. (I've never had one quit, but the light was too low and I would add another bulb and things are again back up to speed. I added it to my scope like this:

Hope this helps?

Is this DDR 001 or 002 did you match it up? You should also see some decent distortion and thinning of EPU also-both are similar one is much stronger

SLamnbass, I know the pictures are not great, but if you look at the designer's initials in my photos (click to enlarge them) there are two L's one on the upper right and slightly raised and on the M in JBM, you can see where the arrows point to two separate letters. They are neither 2013 DDR 001 or 002 are the thickness spread way far over to reveal the letter again.

I hope I explained it right.

I cannot see it clear enough to tell even enlarging it so I can't see the notching either but it could be a new listing and if you wanted to find out for sure and if it is it would be listed by sending it to john wexler for attribution-you can get all that info on his site doubleddie.com

You know you all can make a microscope that zooms in far enough to see single blood cells for less than $12 dollars!! Look up on YouTube how to make a home made microscope... Out of a $1 laserpointer & a smartphone or tablet

Slamnbass, I thought about it for a few of my coins, but have to wait until payday to get supplies to send to Wexler. I also didn't know which one to send them to as this would be the first time send to them, again sorry about the pictures, have you looked at the pulled out pictures, you can see a shift in the bottom of the shield on mine and on Wexler's none that I can tell from the pictures.

thank you for the questions

kards:

Where does the light source come from?

Can you turn off the light source?

If you can turn off the light, then you could add a better light source for your images.

the Light source can be turned off and comes from a circular led ring mounted around the scope in the clear area in the front.
