All of the cents I have ever found had the AM touching, or just about touching. Could someone confirm if it is truly a wide?

Concur that is a WAM reverse. Assume by no photo that you know it is a 2000 dated cent.

For me ... the easiest diagnostic is the relative location of the letter "A" in the reverse legend STATES.

If the A is centered between the two T ... then it is a WAM reverse. That shows clearly in your upside down photograph.

If the A closer to the second T ... then it is a CAM reverse.

@ Nickelsearcher Neat info I will look at the States on the others I find to compare.

Re: upside down photo. I am used to scanning Canadian coins and I forgot that US were opposite.
