I am seeking information on a token marked sterling 12.78g 32mm copying the general style of the ancient tetradrachm of Alexander the Great but cast with English legend on the obverse A PART OF ALL YOU EARN IS YOURS TO KEEP. The reverse has a large ARKAD and Zeus holds an X in place of the original eagle. Stamped in exergue is Sterling.
The obverse legend and ARKAD are references to the book
The Richest Man in Babylon by George Clason published in 1926. The book encourages saving every tenth (X) dollar you make. My question is the date, purpose of the issue and who was responsible.
I have failed in searching the usual Google sources. Typing the legend or Arkad (main character) returns hundreds of images relating to the book but no image of the token. I suspected it was given as a premium at an investment seminar of some sort but the weight and purity make it a bit more than a half dollar either in 1926 or today. If it were a premium for buying a book, I would expect pot metal. If it were a common item, I should be able to find photos on
ebay or Google.
Is there a token collector group that might entertain an inquiry from a non member? My interest in the item is its use of an ancient coin type (what I collect) not that it is a token or silver. I am not interested in selling it. The legend is one of several presented in the book so I see the possibility that there could be a series of a half dozen other, similar items. Hints appreciated.
