This coin appears doubled on the U and T in UNITED. I am not sure if it is a proof or not because it is circulated. It does not appear reflective like a proof though. I drew arrows where I think there may be split serifs in the letters. Thanks for your help.

Looks like it may be split, but it could be a shadow.

Thanks. I did check, but there is only one listed for a non proof. Mine doesn't match that one.

Hmmmm...I hate that when it happens. Kid may be right though. Might be a well placed contact mark and a shadow. In hand though, it may look to be the real deal.

I think the T may be a contact mark. However, I took pictures of the U at different angles and you can see split serifs on both tops of the U. I do not think both tops would have contact marks in the same spot lol. Thank you for looking.

Thanks. Is it common for only one letter to show this. Most examples I see have like the whole word with split serifs.

Split serifs only happen on mint marks because of the punch making the mint marks that don't line up making a RPM. Notching is caused during the hubbing process because of a miss alignment. That is what you are seeing on the lower images. On the "T" on UNITED, it looks normal. It is a minor DDR. (Sometimes we look too hard for something that isn't there) But it might be listed on Brians Varieties with a Wexler number. http://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/listings/cat/42

Thanks for the correct terminology. It may be a little DDR, but it still counts as the first God Blessed me with. :D Thanks Coop.

Here are more pictures of areas I believe have notching. The N in UNITED. The E and possibly D in UNITED The TA in STATES Would this make it a significant DDR to be listed? There are not many business strike 1969 S DDR Nickels listed. Thanks for your feedback. :)
