Hello all, I'm new and have a question. How can you tell the difference between the clad proof quarters and the silver proof quarters? Can you look at the edges and see the copper in the clad and not in the silver? I think they both have an "S" mint mark. Thank you, Tnwalker10

Yes, you can tell by the edges. The copper is very easy to see on the clad coins. The proof-issue quarters have been minted in San Francisco since 1968 (S mint mark). Prior to that, they were minted in Philadelphia ( no mint mark). Hope this helps you out.

I moved this from the Welcome section to the Main Coin section. It will get a lot more visibility here.

Welcome tnwalker10,

Glad you joined the CC. Another way of telling the difference is by weighing the two coins.

Welcome tnwalker10. Now, do you raise or own Tennessee Walking Horses or am I way off base?
