So here is the situation I am currently in. There is a seller who offered combined shipping on all orders, and I won 4 of his auctions, over about a 3 day span. When requesting invoices to get the combined shipping, it was split into two separate invoices, so I would have to pay the shipping cost twice. I have send probably 3-4 messages to this seller over the past week asking to combine them all into one invoice and I have not gotten a single reply from him.
So currently, the coins are just sitting in my unpaid invoices section because I am not going to pay shipping twice when the listings stated shipping would be combined on all purchases. Do I have any recourse here? If I don't pay and negative feedback is left, could I challenge it? I am totally willing and ready to pay for them, I'm just not going to do it until the terms of the listings are met.

Normally if I am looking at a seller's auctions over a 3 day span I will message them in advance just to make sure everything is kosher, and that I can combine shipping on one invoice when I'm done buying. But it sounds like you did everything ok anyway. A seller risks much more by not combining the purchase as they stated in the auctions, because you can leave them negative feedback. You did nothing wrong. I'd wait it out a little longer, and maybe give ebay a call, just to make sure you are in the right. Maybe ebay can move the issue along with the seller.

I've seen some sellers combine shipping if all sales were completed in a 24 to 48 hour time frame in order to get combined shipping.Sounds like a grey area if the seller didn't specify this in the listing & you didn't ask.If the shipping is not more than 4 or 5 bucks just pay it.Lesson learned,No big deal

No time limit was specified in the listing for combined shipping. And I actually did message him upfront asking if it would be ok to shop over multiple days and, again, never got a response. And that message was sent a week ago now. I know it's just a few extra bucks, but I'm not going to pay more than I have to just because the seller is not holding up their end of the bargain. I'm waiting it out until they are all combined. Probably will contact ebay soon as well.

There are a lot of folks, including sellers, that have a good deal going on this time of year. If you are receiving no responses to your emails it all depends on how much you want the coins you won. I realize it might be the "principal" of the thing to not pay a penny more than you need to, but it isn't a situation where I'd stress over it. Either pay it or move on. As has been mentioned you as the buyer can't be given negative feedback. However, you get ticked by ebay for any lot you don't pay for, and with enough ticks they boot you out of ebay. It used to be you could get 3 'ticks' in a year, but that was so long ago that I don't know if it's changed or not. But I'd still just pay it and move on and enjoy the holidays, which are HERE!

Just wait a little longer for a response, as mentioned everyone is busy at this time of year, hopefully they would combine the shipping as promised.

I do get that it's holiday time, but the guy is posting probably 10-15 new listings each day. If he has time to go on ebay and list 15 new items every day, surely he can carve out 30 seconds to just reply to a message. I know it probably comes across that I'm super wound up about this but I'm really not. Just hard to convey in text without sounding that way. I can take or leave the coins, I would just like to know either way from the seller what he will do. Regardless, though, I'm not going to report him or anything. I'll just wait it out and see what happens.

Keep in mind that many sellers (probably most, if they do a fair amount of business) have lots set up to go on ebay as much as 30 days in advance. In other words, when the seller did the work to get the lot ready to hit ebay may have been some time ago. So even if they are having 10-15 new lots appear every day, it doesn't mean they actually did the work each of those days. Even if you check their feedback responses, many of those are also automated, so even if you see a seller leaving feedback every day it doesn't mean they are actually doing it by hand. Depending on the seller, the "business" as it appears on ebay may not have anything to do with when they are actually doing the work. Of course, if they are not MAILING items very fast after a sale, that will hurt them a lot. Getting ticked on the stars is even worse than a negative for most sellers.

Quote: And you bought his coins anyway without waiting for a response? Yes. His listings didn't specify a time frame on combined shipping and he's been an eBayer since like 2002 with over 7000 feedback 100% positive, so I felt pretty comfortable in going ahead and doing it. I guess this is what I get for making assumptions, but I figured I would be ok.

As sellers, what do professional dealers do in this sort of situation?

And you bought his coins anyway without waiting for a response? That's a big mistake on your part .the seller has to state in his listing that he will combine postage if you buy within 2 to 4 day period. If he doesn't state that, he's under no obligation to do so. pay the guy proper postage , learn by your mistake ,and have a Merry Christmas !

And I don't mind to do that if he at least responds to my message and tells me as much, but I'm not going to pay before I know for sure.
I don't think I'm in the wrong here at least waiting on a response from the seller before I do anything.

As a seller for 8 years on ebay (on&off) I would respond to your inquire & combine shipping. I've done it before & will do it again. As a buyer I would Never Never withhold payment for a week because I made the Wrong assumption as you even stated you did. That's just wrong but do as you like. Says a lot about ones character.
