I have been collecting blocks for as long as I can remember (since 1985) - mostly the $1.00 note but have also been collecting blocks from all denominations up to $100.

Once I completed the regular blocks for each year and district - I then started getting all the different runs for each block. This is quite the challenge and I use a dealer in New Jersey to help find most of my needs- but do find good blocks from circulation once in a while.

How many block and run collectors are on this forum?

Just collect the one dollars. That keeps me busy. Out of the roughly 2000 different blocks from 1963 to present, I am lacking about 200. Thats just the blocks made for circulation. Then you got the blocks made for sheets. Then you get into the mules, web notes and so on. Its enough to keep me busy and out of trouble.

For me, I just try to collect one CU (if possible) example of every series and major variants (war notes, experimentals, web fed, etc.) from all modern notes but mostly $1 and $5 at the moment. That's plenty to keep me busy and about all I can afford at the moment.

Oftentimes that means I'm getting the notes with the higher print runs, but that's ok with me. I'll upgrade later.

I'm trying to do a collection called "The $226 Project". It's a collection of all 226 $1 FRB/block letter combos ever issued in Federal Reserve Notes. All bills are 2003A and older.

There would be 300 bills (12 FRBs plus 25 block letters (A-N, P-Y and *), but the following combos haven't been used yet:

A..P through A..Y
C..K through C..Y
D..S through D..Y
E..U through E..Y
H..L through H..Y
I..P through I..Y
J..U through J..Y
K..P through K..Y

Right now I have 5,972 notes in my collection - maintained in an access database - scans of every note I own. On the $1 series I have all 1963 to present blocks - and from 1977 on most of the print runs - even some very rare print runs!

If anyone can help me find the following notes for 2006 - my $1.00 collection would be 100% complete with all print runs!

Block CE - serial range 1 - 6,400,000
Block DE - serial range 1 - 6,400,000
Block LD - serial range 1 - 25,600,000
Block LG - serial range 1 - 6,400,000
Block LM - serial range 1 - 6,400,000

So if anyone has any of the above - just let me know!

Very impressive!

I'm an off-and-on block collector myself. I collect blocks for $1 and $2, "date and mintmark" for $5-$20, and type for higher denominations. I really only collect from circulation for now, and my hobby ADHD frequently pulls me away towards other pursuits, unfortunately.

Does the New Jersey dealer you use have a website?
