I am brand new to coin collecting, but I came across what I think could be a 1992-D Close AM Error. I would like someone with more experience to help me confirm or deny the suspicion. Any help would be appreciated!

It a wide "AM".

The AM is not close to touching and the "Fg" is too close to the memorial.

Keep up the search

...And to the Forum!

Normal cent. The correct terminology for the 1992 Close AM is a VARIETY, it's not an "error".

to the CCF.

Your coin is not the rare example ... rather the normal 1992-D reverse as already correctly stated by our experts.

High relief reverse so it's a WAM.
