Found this Marianas quarter in my coin pile. Reverse looks neat. Looks like extra leaves at the end tip of the Carolinian Mwar (Head lei).

That is a die chip. Not an extra leaf.

I am fully aware it IS a 'die chip', 'gouge', 'break', 'dent', etc, etc, etc, on and on and on... and just a hope or dream. So WHY burst so many bubbles on these forums by telling someone otherwise when deep down they truly know. I also realize I'm NOT a "Pillar or Bedrock" of the community or the 'Immediate family' and my privilege in the community 'DOES NOT' allow me to name or get recognition for something that 'could be' but isn't. I'm pretty sure if you or Mr.RedBook found something similar and there were only a hand-full of them out there. It would be on the front page of the next issue of Coin World. Well.... EXCUUUUUUSE ME. I will not stop enjoying my little hobby even though I'm not related to anyone in the WORLD of COINS.

I STILL THINK IT'S A LEAF OR A BUDDING FLOWER. "JUST FOR ME".

How is telling the truth "bursting a bubble"? Correct terminology is essential to numismatics and thinking otherwise results in someone being convinced that every little oddity on a coin will make you rich. BTW, R.S. Yeoman has been dead since 1988 so he is not finding anything anymore.

Sorry.... I meant Mr.RedBook,Jr., III or IV. I'm not that IGNERT. Sometimes using correct terminology can ruin it for others. Great Find! would have been fine. I'm glad I wasn't given 'Correct Terminology' when Santa and the Easter Bunny were around. That would have been devastating .

The OP simply stated that it looked like extra leaves - I agree. The cause of this effect was simply left out of the original post. If so desired, the OP should be able to give a nickname to the find.

The Low and High Extra Leaf Wisconsin quarter got their nickname from die gouges.I don't see anything wrong in giving this quarter a nickname given that this quarter has another, minor, interestingly-placed die defect. However, this die chip isn't as prominent, and the defect (a die chip) does occur much more frequently than a relatively large, and possibly deliberate, die gouge.

The debate about the impact of giving such anomolies nicknames is another issue.
