i cant seem to figure out what is going on with the back of this cent. looks interesting but not sure if it is an error or not

It's glue. Another coin was glued to it then pried apart.

Wow Good Call Jasper. I wouldn't have guessed that since you could see right through the glue, made it look like the face was pressed through the back to me. I guess I still have a lot to learn. Great eye.

The biggest clue that it is glue is the bright red area in the center, the glue protected the original copper color and kept it from oxidizing.
