Hello guys So a few minutes ago I was on ebay looking at LWC , I came across this 1921s listed for $6 bucks .. This is a date I need so I grabbed my RedBook and grading guide so I could get an idea on the value of this coin ... Going by photos online and my ANA grading guide I though the coin looked solid EF40 possibly EF 45... So RedBook ( high retail I know ) has EF at $35 and AU 50 at $75, so I purchased the coin ... I messaged the seller and ask about the coin , he says problem free but why was the coin listed so cheap ? Is there a problem I'm not seeing or am I overgrading the coin? Here the link Please take a look and let me know what you think :) 131673231629

I think you're right on. I say XF40, but I'm new. Wait for a more seasoned opinion. Nice buy btw.

XF40 sounds about right and the price was good. There are some rim issues that look minor and perhaps a touch of verdigris but nothing major. A quick look at ebay's completed listings will give you a good idea on retail value for similar pieces and it looks like you got a good deal on this one.

I think it's only a VF. And not on the high of that.

The coin has too many issues for me to call it EF-40. I don't like grading coins that are speckeled with dings, pings, and dongs. SORRY

I will admit I didn't notice the rim issues, but they seem pretty minor to me... I agree it's not the best example in that grade range .. I'm seeing what you would expect on a circulated coin though, not sure I've ever seen a circulated coin that didn't have a few dings and pings... I'm not going to lie , I'm not much at grading these but after looking at EF slabbed LWC on ebay this morning I would be shocked if this coin isn't EF ..

I would say there's just enough uncertainty on the grade to keep the price down. You paid VF money, so you are ok either way. This is how ebay bargains are made - pay based on the worst possible scenario and anything better is gravy. I've had my share of misses, but I have a number of coins in my collection that are WAY nicer than what I paid for them on ebay.

Looks to be VF30, I hate angled photos! Some rim dings and a light scratch above the date.

XF-45. Rim chatter and scratch above date.
Reverse residue by the right wheatstock, might be lamination.

I'm thinking VF-30 (Dull). The rim cuts though small and light and the dullness, cause some people to avoid, thus fewer bidders. The seller probably had little or no money into it, so any price is a good price. If you are happy with it, you did well.

That's the appeal of ebay. Like KenKat, I have purchased more great bargains than stinkers.

That looks like a dandy, I'd guess an Ef 40
