Hi All, Some help on this one if possible. It is a 10 Paisa identical to KM 807 issued from 1972 but is clearly dated 1969. The lists all show the reverse as a cow or Ox which is a different coin and I can't make sense of it. Has anyone come across this?
In Nepal, the year 2026 is 1969 in the Gregorian calendar, as is 2029 to 1972. Are you sure you are not mixing up the symbols for 6 and 9? This site, though not your coin, has a chart you can use to convert the numbers. Check the last digit again, and if it is still the incorrect date, picture would be helpful.
Hi Petrus, No. The obverse is a plumed crown surrounded by script top and bottom. The reverse is as in the example you pictured. By chance when checking for my first source I discovered an example of KM 1014.3 which is the one I am looking for. It is at http://www.collectitcoins.com/asia/...ode=list&p=5.
Hi Petrus, I've just reviewed what I did on this coin and realize that I boobed. It is in fact exactly like the one you listed (KM 807)but with the 1969 date. This time I attach photos. I don't know if you are still watching this - if not I'll raise a new one
That last digit would be one of the many variations of the number nine. In the link below (a date converter), it shows six different types. The third version of nine looks very similar to some versions of six.
