Found this guy while cleaning out bottom of storage box - There he was stuck in the corner trying to escape detection and who knows how long he's been there, anyways does this look like some sort of mint imprint goof?

Looks real good on the back - no marks, not a scratch other than circulation!

From my unprofessional point of view, it looks like an error, because if it was circulation problems the back would probably be different too...
Say, was it sitting under anything really heavy? Maybe that's the case...

Oh, by the way, there were about 18.5 million coins from that mint in that year, so...

Not sure what happened in its previous life but nothing heavy while in my possession ..... But then the little guy was hiding in the corner, sneaky-sneaky, so I have no clue where he has been ..... But I must of had in my possession since early 1970 era, as that the box he came out of ....

Guess I can try to ebay it in a "Rossey Lot" ..... I've got a ton of this type of stuff hanging around, too much in fact ....

Would like to see someone of interest get it, not much value beyond melt / curiosity I'm thinking!

Agree with struck-through diagnosis.

Here is a 1926s Peace dollar struck on a flawed planchet.
(had to do some searching to find it)

Looks like a bird got between the planchet and the die when it was struck.

I am not one of the experienced members - Whatever it ends up being it looks very cool and with some of the devices appearing to be missing it might sell pretty good.

I agree with John1 on this one. If it were a lamination, then we would be the ghost outline on the obverse. The reverse doesn't look altered, so it looks like it struck through something on the obverse. Nice find.
Rest in Peace
